It was funded by the Michigan Legislature in July 2000 to be operated by the Michigan Virtual University ® (MVU®), a private, not-for-profit Michigan corporation. MVS works in cooperation with individual school districts to grant course credit and diplomas.
Through MVS, Michigan high school and middle school students can take a variety of courses and learn any place there is a computer and an Internet connection. Additionally, high school students can prepare for tests such as the Michigan Merit Exam and AP* exams. We're here to help prepare our children for a lifetime of integrating technology into their work and their lives.
Eligible students include:
- Gifted and talented students
- Special needs students
- Students who need to "make-up" credit
- Public and non-public school students
- Home-schoolers
MVS can help schools stretch tight school budgets, provide staff development opportunities and improve student performance.
MVS can help educators get back to what matters most — helping kids find their special gifts.
MVS is accredited by the Commission on International & Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI).
